AFFORD

Theory:

The word AFFORD is widely used in English. It means that you are financially in a position to do something.
Example:
I can AFFORD to buy that jacket. (This means buying that jacket will not give me a problem financially.)

Having the money doesn't always mean you can Afford something.
Example:
I have 100€ in my pocket.
Going to the restaurant will cost 20€. (so maybe I can afford it.)
But I have to pay my brother 95€.
So, although I have the money, I CAN'T AFFORD to go to the restaurant.

AFFORD is also used for situations which do not involve money.
Example:
That singer is really good.
You CAN'T AFFORD to miss his performance. (meaning you MUST see it.)

The meeting is very important.
I CAN'T AFFORD to be late.

So, CAN'T AFFORD TO means MUST NOT.
